About Sahastradhara

The name Sahastradhara literally means ‘The Thousand Fold Spring’ is a popular tourist destination in Dehradun. The name is due to the water that drips from the limestone stalactites in the caves and its waterfalls.

About Robber’s Cave

The 600 meters long river cave (Robber’s Cave) is known by the locals as Gucchupani. The cave is divided into two main parts with its highest fall being 10 meters long. The place is known for its unique natural phenomenon known as the disappearing stream. The place was believed to be used by the robbers to hide during the British Raj hence owing to its name.

About Mindrolling Monastery

Founded in 1965, The Mindrolling Monastery houses the Ngagyur Nyingma College which is one of the largest Buddhist learning centers in India. The monastery is a re-established facility of the original Mindrolling Monastery and was established by Khochhen Rinpoche. The well maintained gardens and a 60 meters high stupa and contains various rooms which are decorated with murals and house various relics and a 35 meters high statue of Lord Buddha in Gold.

About Tapkeshawar Temple

The premier research institute of forestry in India is located in Dehradun. The Forest Research Institute was established in 1906 as the British Imperial Forestry Service.     I am enthused and undecided with respect to a visit to India. Your descriptions and photos of Dehradun and Goa are truly enticing, but when I fly around the world from the U.S. to India I will have to know where it is I want to land and explore. Can you please provide me a short rationale as to why I should focus on one area or another based on the following? I am an active retiree who is familiar with southeast and east Asia, but not India as of yet. I am English and married to a Chinese and we are both interested in exploring appropriate parts of India as potential retirement residency locales. We are intrigued by the climate, architecture, culture, food and coastal location of Goa, but we also would greatly appreciate the cooler climate of Dehradun. The fabulously

    If you are really interested in exploring the mountains and serene sights of India then trek to Hampta pass is a must see. It is a pass joining villages of kull and lahaul (in Himachal Pradesh), you will love the snow and green meadows and chandratal lake there

    Well India is diverse place you can land up in chandigadh and travel to destinations in himachal pradesh which include destinations like Spiti Valley, Leh, Pin Parvati Pass, Parvati Valley. Then From there you can start exploring the remote areas near Dehradun as well.
