Yercaud is a hill station in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is situated in the Shevaroys range of hills and mountains in the Eastern Ghats. Yercaud is a popular hill station also known as the ‘jewel of the South’, it is named after the numerous forests around the area. The township is popular as a tourist destination primarily because of its scenic beauty and picturesque lake. 1. Big Lake or Yercaud Lake

The Big lake (Yercaud Lake) is beautiful and clean. The surrounding areas have gardens and lush greenery. The environment around the lake is best for a picnic and the gardens have flowers blooming every season. The lake also has boating facilities that gives a peaceful boating experience on a good sunny day. In the weekends, the lake can get crowded but if you go during the weekdays, you might even get the entire lake to yourself!

2. Pagoda Point

The high view point called the Pagoda point offers a bird eye’s view of the entire city down below, the view is breath-taking and absolutely gorgeous. The steep road towards the view point is enthralling and the point is often used as the end point of a serene walk amongst the hills. This natural beauty is a must visit while in Yercaud to witness the entire city while the sun sets in the background.

3. Kiliyur Falls

Kiliyur Falls is a nice and calm place that allows access to the untouched natural piece of art of the water flowing gracefully down the stream. The falls is not accessible easily and there is a trekking trail that leads to it, although the walk is absolutely worth it. So leave your vehicles and put on your walking shoes to come and visit the falls to experience nature at its best.

4. Karadiyur View Point

The hidden gem of Yercaud, the Karadiyur view point is through a ten-minute walk through a village leading to the watch tower that gives the view of the valley below. The hidden trail is marked by white slabs of stones and the jungle is filled with sweet music of birds chirping and the cool breeze engulfs you. The walk towards the viewpoint enthralls the trekker and leaves him mesmerized by the view that this point provides. A must-visit in Yercaud, the viewpoint is very popular amongst travellers.

5. Shevaroy Temple

The Shevaroy Temple is a car ride away from the city but the temple is a must visit while in Yercaud. The temple is dedicated to Lord Balajia nd Cauveryamma. The shrine is placed inside a cave and the temple complex also has a viewpoint that the tourists use as a great place to click pictures. The spot is also very spacious and has ample parking spaces. The temple is beautiful especially during morning hours and the hill-top is a road towards divinity.

6. Grange Tree Top Adventure Park

Located in the Grange resort, the Grange Tree Top Adventure Park offers adventure activities on nominal fares. The best one is the high level rope course that is done with the help of guides and instructors. The quad biking and zip wire attract the attention of kids of all ages as they enjoy throughout the day in the sports. The place also has a snacks bar for light refreshments.

7. 32 Km Loop Road Yercaud

The beautiful tree lined drive is well known among locals as the perfect spot for early morning drives. The uphill drive has 20 hair pin bends and the ride is thrilling as well as fun filled. The drive uphill is beautiful and should not be missed at all!
