Benaulim Beach is located just a few kilometers from Margao the heart of south Goa district. People who have visited the other major beaches of Goa will find this particular beach pretty contrasting. Benaulim beach is a quaint location and hardly makes up for a tourist attraction in fun filled Goa. Nevertheless, it is one of the most serene beaches in Goa with plenty of beach shacks and restaurants with various water sport activities that make it a great spot for a little fun and relaxation. Being located almost in the middle of the north and south districts of Goa, Benaulim is a favorite for the people who are looking for a quaint spot to relax with a highly toned town beach party environment that Goa beaches are known for.

While the climate remains almost the same throughout all the places in Goa, one needs to visit Goa during the tourist season to properly enjoy the fun activities that the beaches offer. The summer season starts in March and ends till late June. The heat and humidity can be extremely high during this time and most tourists avoid this season. The monsoons start in late June and last till mid September. Monsoons see plenty of rainfall and most places in Goa get covered in lush greenery that makes it a scenic location. The seas are however not fit for swimming during the heavy rains. The months between October and February see the majority of tourist traffic with a mildly warm weather with chilly mornings and evenings.

Best Time to Visit

Benaulim is a comparatively clean and peaceful beach which sees a sparse tourist crowd and is a great place to relax during the evenings. The months between October and February are the best for visiting with all the festivals like Diwali, Christmas and New Year falling into this period. The monsoons are also a great time to visit Goa as the surroundings are covered in greenery and the weather is pleasant. But the seas are too rough for swimming or water sports during the rainy season so visitors need to be careful.

How to Reach and Getting Around

Benaulim is located at around 27 kilometers from Dabolim Airport and just a small distance of 5 kilometers from Margao Railway Station. Transport in the form of auto rickshaws, taxis and buses are available from anywhere and the location is marked on all locally available tourist maps. When in Goa the best way to get around places is to rent vehicles and motorcycles which are available at various locations around Goa. Do not forget to try a Royal Enfield Motorcycle which is popular among the foreign tourists.

Attractions

Benaulim beach is the spot which is mostly visited by more seasoned tourists and families who find the sea facing bungalows and resorts a great place to stay in. The beach is in close proximity to a lot of great restaurants and beach bars with occasional live band performances in the evening. One can also find a lot of seafood restaurants which offer some great recipes at really cheap prices. There are also plenty of water sporting activities like wind surfing, speed boats and jet skis with relatively calmer seas that make it a treat for the visitors.
