Location : Delhi is located on the banks of Yamuna river. Situated in the northern part of India, the city was once a part of the Aravalli ranges. Delhi is also the part of the golden triangle circuit including the cities of Agra and Jaipur.

Climate : Delhi is a land locked city and the distance from the sea gives the city an extreme type of continental climate. The summers are very hot and temperature reaches to a maximum of 45 °C, winters are very chilly and temperature drops to a minimum of 0 °C. Monsoon arrives in the city by July and remains till August.

Best Time to Travel : Best time to travel Delhi is from February to April and from October to November.


Delhi - The Heart Of India
India is a land of varied culture, traditions and geographical features and the capital of this enchanting land is Delhi. The city consists of two distinct parts, namely the Old Delhi and New Delhi. Inhabited by the people from far and near areas of the country, the city is often referred to as the heart of India. Over the centuries this charming city has equally attracted the emperors, conquerors and the poor. In fact, Delhi is not just a city, but it is a book which narrates the history of the country. History says, that the city was built and destroyed seven times and has been witness to many important events. Today functioning as the seat of administration, the city was ruled by many dynasties. The architectural monuments of the city tell the saga of a bygone era. Standing as the testimony to the grandeur of the past, these monuments attract tourists from all over the world. Not only the monuments, but modern structures, parks, gardens and other travel attractions equally interest the tourists.


Delhi Travel Attractions
Red Fort : Situated in Old Delhi area, the magnificent fort extends two kms and varies in height from 18 metres to 33 metres. This red sandstone fort was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan but he could not rule from here. His son Aurangzeb imprisoned him in Agra Fort and became the first and last Mughal Emperor to rule from Red Fort. The fort houses many attractions like Lahore Gate, Diwan-i-Am, Diwan-i-Khas, Moti Masjid, Royal baths and the weaponry museum.

Jama Masjid : The last architectural extravagance of Shah Jahan, Jama Masjid is located in front of the Red Fort. Built in between 1644 and 1658, this great mosque is the biggest mosque in India. Made of red sandstone and white marble, Jama Masjid is a fine example of Indo-Islamic architecture. Jama Masjid has three huge gateways, four angle towers, two minarets (40 m in height), a large courtyard and a central tank.

Rajghat : Located on the banks of Yamuna, Rajghat marks the spot where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated following his assassination in 1948. Consists of a simple square platform of black marble the place has beautiful park.

Qutab Minar : A fine example of Afghan architecture, Qutab Minar stands 15 kms south of New Delhi. Qutab Minar was built by Muslim rulers to commemorate their victory over the last Hindu kingdom in Delhi. This five storeyed tower soars 72.5 metres high and tapers from a 15 m diameter base to 2.5 m at the top.

India Gate : The 42.5 m high arch is located at the eastern end of the Rajpath. Famous as the Arch of Triumph, it bears the name of Indian Army soldiers who died in the first world war, the North-West Frontier operations and the Afghan fiasco of the same time.

Jantar Mantar : Built in 1725, Jantar Mantar is one of the five observatories built by Maharaja Jai Singh II. The observatory is dominated by a massive sun-dial known as the 'Prince of Dials'. It also has other instruments which determine the course of heavenly bodies, the paths of stars and predict eclipses.

Rashtrapati Bhawan : The official residence of the President of India, stands close to India Gate on Raisini hill. Completed in 1929, the building is a blend of Mughal and Western architecture. The palace like building has beautiful Mughal gardens and occupies an area of 130 hectares.

Agra : Agra, the city of Taj, is 203 kms away from Delhi. Known all over the world for Taj Mahal, the city has other attractions like Agra Fort, Akbar's Mausoleum, Itmad-Ud-Daulah tomb etc.

Jaipur : The capital of colourful Rajasthan state, Jaipur is located at a distance of 262 kms from Delhi. Also known as Pink city, Jaipur has the attractions like Hawa Mahal, City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Amber Fort, Jaigarh Fort and Nahargarh Fort.
