Location : Banagalore is the capital city of southern Indian state of Karantaka. The city is situated in the heart of the south-Deccan plateau, on the south-eastern corner of Karnataka state. Bangalore is 562 kms from Hyderabad and 998 kms from Mumbai.

Climate : Bangalore is situated at a height of 3,113 ft above sea level, due to which the climate of the city remains moderate and pleasant thoughout the year. The tempertuare in the city ranges between the 14 and 33 degrees centigrade.Summers (April to June) and winters (October to February) are cool . The city expoeriences the southwest monsoon rains from June to September.

Best Time to Visit : Though the weather of Bangaloe remains pleasant all through the year, the best time to visit the city is during winters between October and Febaruary.


Bangalore - The Silicon Valley Of India
Bangalore, the seventh largest city of India, is a modern bustling city which is rapidly growing into an important industrical centre. The city is also known as the Garden City beacuse of its beautifully laid out parks and gardens, wide tree-lined avenues, towering buildings and lively bazaars. Due to high concentration of IT industry in the city, Bangalore is now referred to as the Silicon Valley of India. One of the most techno savvy cities in India, Bangalore is dotted with software parks and the offices of major national and global IT firms. Today Bangalore is a modern city, but the city was founded by Kempegowda in the 16th century, sicnce then it has been acting as an important administrative and a business center. The city life revolves around Kepmgowda Circle and in the narrow and busy streets. Bagalore is also well-known for its nightlife, as the city remains alive with discos and pubs till late night.


Major Attractions
Vidhan Soudha : Built in 1954, the building houses the Legislative Assembly of the state of Karnataka. A fine example of neo-Dravidian style of architecture, the building also houses the Karnataka secretariat.

Lal Bagh Gardens : One of the major attractions of Bangalore, the garden is called Lal Bagh becuase of its beautifully bloomed red roses. Lal Bagh also has a good collection of noted Botanical species.

Cubbon Park : Founded by Lord Cubbon in the year 1864, the Cubbon Park is a must visit place for one and all. Located in the heart of the city, the park sprawls over an area of around 300 acres.

Bangalore Palace : Built in 1887, the palace is situated in the centre of the Bangalore city. The architecture of the Banagalore Palace is based on the Tudor style and it looks like Windsor Palace of England.

Venkatappa Art Gallery : The Venkatappa Art Gallery is a famous attraction for art lovers. The gallery has a collection of around 600 paintings and also an exclusive collection of scenic displays.

Tipu's Palace : The Tipu's Palace and the fort, are the reminders of Tipu Sultan and his father Haider Ali. The acrhitecture and the look of the palace provide an idea of the Mughal lifestyle. The constrcution of the the palace was started by Haider Ali and completed by Tipu Sultan.

ISKCON Temple : The International Society for Krishna Consciousness or ISKCON Temple Complex is a magnificent building. The architecture of the building is a combination of the Dravidian and modern architecture. The temple offers facilities like the multi-vision cinema theatre, computer aided presentation theatres, vedic library and a preaching library. The temple also provides accommodation facility.

Bull Temple : The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva's sacred bull, Nandi. The temple has a huge monolithic statue of the sitting bull that draws a large number of visitors every day.


Excursions
Banerghatta National Park : Just 11 kms from Bangalore, the Banerghatta National Park is a natural retreat. The national park is home to some of the exotic speices of fauna and flora. The park is also a birdwatcher's paradise as it houses more than thousand speices of birds.

Nandi Hill : Located at a distacne of 60 kms from Bangalore, the Nandi hill is a beautiful spot to visit. Situated at an elevation of about 1,615 m above sea level, this is a popular summer resort. The shimmering lake and the green valley add more beauty to the hill.

By Air : Bangalore Airport is located 13 kms east of the city centre. Domestic airlines operate flights from Bangalore to Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad etc. The airport is also a stopover for many international flights.

By Rail : Bangalore is well-connected to major cities and towns of India by rail. There are a number of superfast and express trains from Bangalore to other Indian cities.

By Road : National Highways connect Bangalore to cities of Karnataka and other neighbouring states. BMTC (Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation) buses ply within the city and nearby places.
