'Ghana' means dense, referring to the thick forest, which used to cover the area. While many of India's National Parks have been developed from the hunting preserves of Royal families of India, Keoladeo Ghana is perhaps the only case where the habitat has been created by a Maharaja. A third of the birds found here are migrants, many of whom spend their winters in Bharatpur, before returning to their home towns, as far away as Siberia and Central Asia. Migratory birds at Keoladeo include, as large a bird as Dalmatian pelican, which is slightly less than two meters, and as small a bird as Siberian disky leaf warbler, which is the size of a finger.
Out of all the migrants, the most sought after is the Siberian Crane or the great white crane, which migrates to this site every year, covering a distance of more than half the globe. These birds, are on the verge of extinction.
After spending few hours in Bird Sanctuary, go to Fateh Pur Sikri (Ghost city), the ancient capital of King Akbar. This deserted city lies along the top of a ridge. Day 10 : Khajuraho
This is also an ideal place for Honeymoon couples besides having the best and unique Temple architecture of India. One thousand years ago, 85 temples, magnificent in form and richly carved, came up on one site, at the Khajuraho. The amazingly short span of 100 years, from 950 AD - 1050 AD, saw the completion of all the temples, in an inspired burst of creativity. Today, of the original 85, only 22 have survived the ravages of time; these remain as a collective paean to life, to joy and to creativity; to the ultimate fusion of man with his creator. Yet another theory is that the erotica of Khajuraho, and indeed of other temples, had a specific purpose. In those days when boys lived in hermitages, following the Hindu law of being "brahmacharis" until they attained manhood, the only way they could prepare themselves for the worldly role of 'householder' was through the study of these sculptures and the earthly passions they depicted. These temples are the most exquisite specimen of Hindu architecture and sculpture in medieval India. Though erotic sculptures are the main attraction to common visitor, these erotic figures are only part of sublime and sensuality. The architectural style of the Khajuraho temples is very different from the temple prototype of that period. The temples of Khajuraho are divided into three geographical groups: Western, Eastern and Southern. Your sightseeing will include all of these temples. Overnight in Khajuraho.

deep gorges, tranquil valley and dense teak forests. During the monsoons,
the park is a lush green haven with cascading waterfalls. The park's area
includes the former shooting reserves of the erstwhile royal state of Panna
and Chhattarpur and the jungles today harbour many species of wildlife. The
tiger can be glimpsed here, along with other rare species such as the
Leopard, Wolf and Gharial. Most likely, it will be here if the Caracal, a
vanishing cousin of the extinct Cheetah, is ever sighted. Herds of Blue
Bulls, Chinkaras and Sambars are a common sight. The Wild Boar, the Sloth
Bear, the Indian Fox, and a host of lesser fauna are also seen. A separate
sanctuary for Gharial has been set up. The park can probably boast of the
highest density of the Paradise Fly-Catchers. After day long visit to the
park, return to Khujaraho. Overnight in Khajuraho.
