In the Indian tourism industry this place is always
considered as the tourist hub. It is very popular specially with the
overseas tourist. Even though it is in the middle of the nowhere but these
temples always draws attention of the global tourist with their uniqueness.
These ancient temples are made by the Chandela Kings in 950 or 1050 A.D.
These temples are divided in to three groups West East and south. The
Western group specially the Laksman Mandir is more interesting.
Khajuraho Travel Attractions
Khajuraho Temples can be disseminated in to three categories western Group, eastern Group and Southern Group.
Western Group :This is the main line of Temples but it is very limited. Chausath Yogini Temple, Kandariya Mahadeo Temple, Devi Jagdamba Temple, Chitragupta Temple,Vishwanath Temple, Parvati Temple, Laksman Temple, Matangeshwara Temple all these comes under this line. Amongst all the temples Laksman temples is the best preserved of the temples. The Varah Temple is a temple dedicated to Vishnu's boar incarnation.
Eastern Group : In this line mainly Jain temples can be seen. Brahma Temple, Vamana Temple, Parsvanath Temple, Ghantai Temple are all follow this discipline of the temple
Southern Group : Dulhadev Temple,Beejamandal Temple,Archaeological Museum are the examples of these line. This museum has a varied and a rich collection for the deities and sculpture from the area.
Excursions
Dhubela Museum : Located on the bank of the lake, the museum houses a wide variety of Shakti Cult Sculpture and just 64 km away. There are different sections on garments, weapons and paintings.
Besides this place there are many places where one an go and see while they are based on the Khajuraho like Beni Sagar(11 kms,)Panna National Park- (60 kms) Pandav Falls(35 kms), Ajaygarh Fort- (80 kms),Kalingar Fort-( 125 kms).
How to reach
By Air : By air Khajuraho links with Delhi, Agra, and Varanasi by a daily Boeing 737 of Alliance Air
By Rail : Harpalpur (94 km) and Mahoba (63 km) are to nearest railheads. After reaching there, buses or tanga can be use for the commuting.
By Road : Direct bus services connect Khajuraho with Panna, Satna, Chattarpur, Jabalpur, Mahoba, Bhopal, Gwalior, and Indore. For local transport, cycle rickshaws, tongas, and taxis are available
