The name Jodhpur derives from the Baggytight trousers Jodhpurs. In the past Jodhpur was known as Marwar. It is believed that Rathor Rajputs are the descendant of the Lord Rama Chandra of Ramayana. It was considered as the northern Marwar in earlier days. The enchantingly glorious town Jodhpur is beautiful with the ancient historical monuments which attracts all types of tourist.

Mehrangarh Fort : This fort is just 5 Km from the main town. This standing watcher to the city below,was founded by the Rao Jodha in 1459 AD. It over looks the rugged and rocky terrain and houses a palace, which is so much a home for its residents. It is elaborately bejeweled with long carved panels and red sandstoned windows.

Jaswant Thada : This imposing white marble memorial which marks the site of a royal morgue built in the memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II , in 1899 .For the notable acts of bravery, generosity of the four successive rulers these four cenotaphs are immortalized

Umaid Bhawan PalaceUmaid Bhawan Palace : This exquisite palace is also known as Chittar Palace because of the local chittar sandstone used. Maharaja Umaid Singh (1929 -1942) built it and it is named after him.The unique system of interloking make this palace a place of interest. Hand chiseled sandstone blocks have been put together in a special system of interlocking, there is not mortar binding.

Government Museum : This museum is placed in the core of the Umid Public Garden.It offers a rich collection of exhibits,textile,local arts and crafts.Even potraits of the royals, manuscripts and images of the Jain Tirthankars all are there on the display.This place has azoo too
